Here are some questions we get asked quite often. Before contacting us directly with your enquiries, please take a look at the below as the answer to your question may already be listed.

How long will my order take? 

As we are a small part-time business and all of our products are ‘made-to-order’, once you’ve selected something from our online shop it may take between 2-10 business days, depending on how many orders we have in process, and how many products you have selected. For all information on this please read our Shipping & Delivery Policy. If we are particularly busy we will be in contact to advise you of any delays. If you require your order by a certain date outside of this time-frame (before 10 business days) please contact us before placing your order to ensure this will be possible. We send all of our orders via Express Post (2-3 business days within Australia), so once it is processed in our home-studio it takes very little time to get to you.

Do you stock your products in any local stores?

We currently don’t stock any retail spaces. We often display our stock in local fairs and annual community markets. So if you’re interested in seeing our products in the flesh, be sure to get in contact with us to find out where we’ll be hanging out next. As most of our stock is ‘made-to-order’ we also don’t have all of our products ready for viewing in our home-studio.

Where do you source your fabrics?

All of our fabrics are sourced through our local fabric suppliers here in Perth, Western Australia, though if you’re after something specific and we are unable to find it locally, we also have contacts with fabric suppliers overseas and online. Please note you may be charged extra for fabrics located overseas due to extra shipping charges, and general increased fabric costs.

Is it more expensive for custom orders? 

All of our products are handmade locally in our home-studio, which means costs are dependant on the quality of fabrics used and the time taken to source fabrics and make your order. Custom orders are not necessarily more expensive unless excessive time is required to source your fabrics, the fabric you select is more expensive, or if your fabrics are sourced overseas and extra shipping charges are added by our suppliers.

Do you make self-tie bow ties?

Yes we do! As a standard, all of our bow ties in our online range come pre-tied (which you can actually un-tie too) and adjustable in length with a clip on the back, though if you’re a little more old-school and prefer to tie your bow tie yourself we are happy to make you self-tie bow ties at no additional cost. We make all self-tie bow ties with adjustable slides, and tie them into a bow before packaging. If you are ordering your bow tie through our online range and have a larger neck size than our products note online you will need to contact us at hello@gentlemanandscholar.com.au to advise us of your neck size.

You have so many options, can you help me pick? 

Struggling to figure out which fabrics or products to pick from? or which of our products will go well with your attire? Feel free to send us a picture of your outfit or pictures of ideas found online and we’ll be happy to help you out with choosing certain colours and patterns. We also have a number of outfit ideas available for viewing on our Pinterest account.

Can you work with my fabric?

If you have left over fabric from your bridesmaid dresses, or have sourced the fabric yourself we will be more than happy to create an order with your fabrics. If this is the case please contact us so we can advise you how much fabric we will need for your order, where you can send it, and what the cost will be to make your order. We also prefer to see the fabric before confirming whether it is suitable for making our products with, as there are rare cases where certain fabrics are not compatible with our methods or brand.

Where do you ship to?

Our online shop currently only has the option to ship Australia-wide. If you are an international customer please get in contact with us directly to discuss shipping charges and we will issue you with a manual invoice for payment.
